What we collect and why

Analytics (Google Analytics 4) — Only loaded with your consent. If you accept cookies, Google Analytics collects anonymised data including pages visited, time on site, approximate location (country/city level), device type, and referral source. This helps us understand which games people enjoy and how to improve them. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.

Advertising (Google AdSense) — Only loaded with your consent. Google AdSense may serve personalised ads based on your browsing behaviour and use cookies to do so. You can opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com. Google's advertising privacy policy applies.

Cookies we set ourselves — We store one first-party cookie/localStorage item (hg_consent) to remember whether you accepted or declined cookies. No personal data is stored in it. Game state (your draft progress, settings) is stored in your browser's localStorage and never sent to our servers.

No account required — We do not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to play our games.

No server logs of personal data — Hardly Games uses static hosting. We do not run servers that log IP addresses or personal identifiers beyond what the hosting provider (e.g. Netlify/Vercel) collects as standard infrastructure logging, which we do not have access to for individual user tracking.

Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

• Right to access — You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to erasure — You can request deletion of your personal data. Since we collect very little, this mainly applies to withdrawing consent for analytics/advertising.
• Right to withdraw consent — You can withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for this site, or by using the link below.
• Right to object — You can object to processing for analytics or advertising purposes.
• Right to lodge a complaint — You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Finland, this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
